The Panteon de Quijano

One of the most important places on the sightseeing list is the Panteon de Quijano. The Panteon is one of the few romantic gardens left in Spain and the last typical one in Alicante.

The construction of the garden started in 1855 and finished in 1857 and its center hosts a funerary mound dominated by an obelisk. The monument is dedicated to the Trino de Quijano governor, whose remains are buried within the walls of the obelisk.

The governor died a heroic death in his attempt to complete all his duties, even though cholera was ravaging the city.You have to visit the gardens as they are absolutely amazing and the monument is really impressive, so visit it! I am sure that you will never regret your choice!
