Location

Ordesa’s National Park is located very close to 3 valleys that can be found surrounding the park; one of which is Ordesa Valley. It is the best known valley around the vicinity as it has lots of limestone. The Ordesa Valley is easily identifiable with its close proximity to the National park with the forest extending far and wide.

History

This National Park was set up on the Spanish royalty’s request in 1918. Its original intention was to have a place of refuge for the wild goat that is found only in this area, called the ibex. Soon, the park’s intention expanded to protect other species; besides animals, plants were also welcomed to this refuge. Now it boasts of being a guardian to over 170 bird species, 5 types of amphibians, 8 kinds of reptiles and at least 32 mammals.
