Basque Region – A diverse yet an elegant part of Spain
Basque region of Spain is spread over a vast area and it is the most suitable place for spending vacations in an environment that is blessed with nature, offers revitalizing peace and is yet full of a number of recreational events and water sports. Basque region is home to a number of traditions, language, customs, food and influences. Basque language is spoken by the ethnic people in different areas of this region including Bilbao, Alava, San Sabestian etc.
Basque region has so many villages and towns that the group of these towns and villages has been named as Basque Country. Gorgeously beautiful sea, plenty of bars and pubs, beautiful villas facing the sea, excellent gastronomy are just a few of the inviting factors of the Basque Region. There is a lot more that can be seen and done the Basque region; you can make an itinerary so that you do not miss out on an important city or town.
La Concha, is a beautiful beach where you can soak up the sun and enjoy a number of water sports. In fact, the La Concha happens to be one of the best and most beautiful beaches present in Europe. You may also tour the Miramar Palace. This palace was built very back in 1893 and today it is a conference center.
But visitors are still allowed roam around through its gardens and also have a spectacular view of the oceans from here. Walking along Paseo Nuevo and watching the passing yachts, motor boats and fishing boats for is also a great activity.
There is an 18th-century temple in Bilbao that this dedicated to the patron of St. of sailors, San Nicolas de Bari. This must visit site has a number of Baroque elements. Another important destination is Teatro Arriaga Cultural Center. Here you can have a look at the art display that features the neoclassical and Modernist art. Walking around the Plaza Nueva, will also allow you to explore yet another Neoclassical enclosure that was opened to public in the year 1849.
Vitoria
Great shopping arenas such as Calle Paz are present in the Vitoria’s medieval town. The Palacio de Bendana is another important place to tour. It is a house that was built in 1525 and presently it is the Museum that displays Fournier Playing Card collection.
Famous for the event of the Running the Bulls that takes place each morning here at 8 AM during July he’s second week while the Fiesta of San Fermin is on, is a must visit town in Basque region. You can also tour the Museum de Navarra which was formerly a hospital and today it is an important place that displays the Romanesque art and Roman artifacts.
