Beaches in Palma

There are 8 beaches in Palma out of which five beaches have got recognition as blue flag beaches.

Blue flag Beaches

Palma Beach – Playa de Palma or El Arenal (The Sands) starts from Can Pastilla and goes up to El Arenal. The beach is about 5 KM long and is an unbroken beach throughout.

There is a promenade on the seafront and also a special lane for bikes. It has numerous shops, restaurants and discos. This beach has white sand and calm and crystal clear waters. The beach length is 4600 M and width 50 M.

Ciudad Jardín – Ciudad Jardin is located at a distance of 5 KM from Palma de Mallorca between Cala Gamba and Es Molinar. It is mainly a residential area and is a suitable beach for young children mainly because of its easy access. You can practice several beach sports. This beach has golden sand and moderate waves. The beach length is 450 M and width 35 M.

Cala Major – This beach has been renovated recently by regenerating with fine sand. The water here is clean and crystal clear. This beach is a reasonably good beach and good for surfing; but has lots of high rise hotel buildings behind it. In the months of July and August, this beach gets crowded. This beach has white sand and calm waters. The beach length is 200 M and width 80M.

Cala Estancia – This beach has white sand and calm waters. The beach length is 220 M and width 37 M.

C´an Pere Antoni – This is a vast beach and you can get magnificent views of Palma bay, cathedral and Bellver castle from here. The promenade is quite attractive and you can take a stroll along this or go for a bike ride. This beach has white sand and calm waters. The beach length is 750 M and width 15M.

Others

Es Portixolet – This beach is situated between the Portixol port and the yacht club Molinar de Levante. This beach is popular among the residents of adjoining houses. The beach is not only dirty but also the water stagnates. Normally you find people fishing on the wharf. There are good restaurants that serve fish. This beach has white sand and calm waters. The beach length is 80 M and width 20 M.

Can Pastilla – Can Pastilla is a holiday resort located at a short distance from Palma airport. People who come for holiday here are Spanish, German and British and this can easily be seen in the bars and restaurants in this place. This beach is mostly an extension of the Palma beach. The sand and water quality on this beach are good. This beach has white sand and calm waters. The beach length is 270 M and width 65M.

Caló de Son Cabos – This is a small cove wherein you find lots of fishing boats on the sand in an upturned position. This beach has gravel sand and calm waters. The beach length is 70 M and width 40 M.

Cala Estancia – This is a cove with calm waters. For sand free sunbathing you could go to the Aquacity nearby. There are plenty of beach bars which you can enjoy in the night. This beach has white sand and calm waters. The beach length is 220 M and width 37M.
