Why Bilbao?
Tourists from all around the world visit Spain, attracted by its beauty. The cities are rich in architectural and cultural heritages, the sea is warm, the beaches are delicate, the high mountains offer the possibility to practice winter games for those who love them; and as for the landscapes – they are breathtaking.
In this earthly paradise lies Bilbao. Bilbao is at the heart of a one million person metropolis, the centre of the Bay of Biscay. It is situated in a very special region, being surrounded by mountains and forests on one side, and the sea and its coasts on the other side.

First of all, visit the city. Discover it step by step, and try not to lose any piece, any corner; it is absolutely fantastic. Seven hundred years of history lie in Bilbao so take advantage of it. One of the main attractions is the spectacular Guggenheim Museum. The building covered with titanium panels hosts one of the most impressive collections of modern, contemporary art.
The Fine Arts Museum is another main attraction in Bilbao. It hosts three galleries: the old art (El Greco, Goya), the contemporary art (Gauguin) and the Basque art.
The list of museums in Bilbao continues with the Basque Museum, the Diocesan Museum of Religious Art, and the Maritime Museum. There is even the Bullfighting Museum (very typical for Spain).
Once you are done with the museums, go to the Santiago Cathedral, a place for peace. It is a Gothic church, built by the Jacobeans. The shows, the cultural activities in Bilbao, are directed towards adults, but this doesn’t mean that if you have children you can’t go there.
They can be entertained by the shows especially created for them all year round: musicals, theatre, the three week festival in August that charms them with the parades, the fireworks, the circus, the Christmas Children’s Park that is open throughout December; they all are available in Bilbao.
In addition, at just a 50 minute drive away from Bilbao, the Karbin Abentura theme park is a very special place for children. It has animated dinosaur recreations, exhibitions, and restaurants. It is a place for both fun and education.
