Pais Vasco is located in the northeastern corner of the Basque country, Spain. Your first endeavor should be Bakio. Bakio is a well-known beach break that offers some gorgeous waves along with assorted barrels. The sandbars off the ocean floors are always on the constant shift which results in the formation of waves that keep on varying.
Another spot close to Bakio is El Basurero. This point break works even during the big swells, a time when usually the other breaks have almost closed out. The best time to visit this point break is during the low tide. It is a panoramic view to see the surrounding cliffs sheltering the waves from winds. It is quite a rocky area and it mostly remains uncrowded. The place is also pollution free and great to take quite walks.
Mundaka happens to have the best waves possible. The area is common ground to World Championship Tour of surfing that is held here every year. The waves constantly rave at the Mundaka’s deep barrels and keep the walls clean. Famous Kelly Slater had said the he will surf the Mundaka waves, even in heaven. The quaint village surrounding this place will take you by surprise. The village is still unspoiled despite of the high influx of surfers.
Make a point to visit Rocaputa. The waves here are huge and intense. While you surf here make sure, that you have the know-how and you also know something properly. You may even find waves climbing over 7 meters. These waves have a rapid drop and only experienced should indulge in surfing here.
Rocaputa is definitely not the place where you can learn how to big wave surf. Rocaputa is a great place where you can watch surfers trying to tame the waves and the power of the ocean.
Even if you do not know how to surf, you can indulge in other sports that are available in the area. While you are in Pais Vasco, you must hire a car in order to find activities that are suited to you. The nearest airport happens to be Bilbao and it does not take time to reach Pais Vasco from the airport.
