Costa Adeje
Costa Adeje is located on the south coast of Tenerife west of Paya de los Americas and is a lively holiday resort with great beaches and bundles of fun, with a hiking trail being a special feature on the way up to the Barranco del Infierno.
Adeje has been sacked in its past and hence is protected with fortifications which today are a tourist attraction, although not all the “Fuerks” are open to visitors. Casa Fuerte is one of them. At the top of the main road, Calle Grande, is the sixteenth century Iglesia das Anta Ursula. In a fort which houses the virgin of Cardelaria close to the Casa Fuerte, guarded by the old Cannon, is the restaurant Otello. From there a scenic path leads to the very steep Barronco del Infierno. The four hour return journey takes you through semi-desert to willow and eucalyptus forests, so visitors should wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Costa Adeje is a beautiful location with black shimmering beaches (of volcanic sand), clear water, great for scuba diving and snorkeling. There are whale watching tours, wind surfing and even boat tours; alternatively you can visit the water parks, go golfing or just enjoy the landscape.
Costa Adeje has a good selection of accommodations to suit all requirements, including hotels, hostels and pensions. The sunset harbor club is a popular and well-rated tourist accommodation. It has a “white” village type complex, outdoor pool, exotic garden and some fantastic views enjoyed all the better from the balconies of the apartments. There is also the Grand el Mirador and the value-for-money island village.
If hotels are not your cup of tea, then in Adeje many different types of housing would suit you. There are houses, apartments, and self-created apartments all priced to suit your individual requirements.
Costa Adeje has a good reputation for its food, especially garlic chicken, which is the most frequent menu available at some of the restaurants. It is served with salad and fruits. Other eating places offer grilled meat and braised rabbit with garlicky Salmorejo juice.
Adeje will provide you the perfect holiday. You will find almost everything you desire at a holiday resort. There are peaceful spots, excellent beaches with facilities, plenty of water sports, diving schools, cafes, restaurants, terraces, hotels, and water parks. There are also gardens, zoos, golf clubs, fishing, sailing and even dolphin and whale watching.
