5 places to shop in Barcelona
Shoppers and fashion lovers staying in Lloret de Mar should not miss making a detour to the wonderful Barcelona.
It is an ideal city for shopping! You will find the major retailers as well as small boutiques.
To guide you, we recommend 5 places to shop in Barcelona
1- L’Illa, the Eixample shopping centre
L’Illa is a new shopping centre in Barcelona, located, in the northern district of l’Eixample, near to Sarria. It is laid out over 3 covered levels which run along the Avenue Diagonal. The number of shops and the services offered has made the place greatly appreciated by the people of Barcelona who come here to shop at the weekend.
Amongst the boutiques of l’Illa, you will find Spanish brands such as Zara, Oysho, Stradivarius, Bershka, Custo or Mango, as well as international ones, such as H&M, American Vintage, Nike, Oasis, Bodyshop or Douglas. There is a Decathlon and a Corte Ingles, the equivalent to the French Galeries Lafayette.
If you are hungry you will have no trouble finding somewhere to eat. Opposite Zara, the Brunch & Cafe is ideal for snacks and coffee. In the basement there are a host of small restaurants: tapas, cafe and even Asian and Italian food are on offer at mealtimes. You can eat in a typically Spanish ambiance.
l’Illa is frequented generally by locals. An ideal place if you want to shop in Barcelona, far from the crowds of tourists in the old city.

2- Glories, an agreeable boutique village
Located completely in the opposite direction from l’Illa, at the end of the Diagonal and next to the famous Torre Agbar designed by Jean Nouvel, is the recent Glories shopping centre. It is set up as a little village, partially in the open air. Along the pedestrian streets you will find a large choice of brands such as Zara, Diesel, H&M or Bershka, Stradivarius, Pull & Bear and Massimo Dutti
You can have lunch in the basement or on the terrace. Lovers of Spanish charcuterie can head for Andreu’s, a good place to eat Iberian ham.
The Glories shopping centre is a little haven of peace in a district which is being renovated.
In fact, if you have the time, why not discover the surroundings? You can find plenty of street art, and also the Design Museum (“Museu del Disseny”) which has a nice little cafe.
Not forgetting the “Mercat del Encants” a large flea-market in Barcelona. If you love bargain hunting, then you will love it here.

3- Passeig de Gracia, luxury shopping
For luxury shopping opt for the Passeig de Gracia, in the heart of Barcelona. This large avenue resembles in many ways the Champs-Elysée. Many Spanish and international boutiques can be found. You will find some main brand shops such as Oysho, Zara, Mango or even Benetton, but the avenue is mostly dedicated to upmarket, luxury and semi-luxury brands
You will start at the huge Apple boutique at the end of Passeig de Gracia. Just opposite, on the Plaça Catalunya, the large Corte Inglés, the equivalent of the french Galerie Lafayette, offers a huge choice of upmarket products. Fans of Sephora, will appreciate the enormous shop also located here, just next to the Fnac, at the top of the famous Ramblas.
Going back along the avenue you will find the Hermes boutique, as well as Louis Vuitton, Longchamp, Gucci and Dior. More affordable, there is Maje, Sandro, Cos and Levis which also found here.
Our particular favourite is Magasin & Other Stories which is laid out over 3 floors with a huge choice of shoes, jewellery, bags, clothing and beauty products.
The advantage of shopping on the Passeig de Gracia is its central location in Barcelona. From here you can easily get around the city and its historic districts.
Take time out from shopping on the Passeig de Gracia to admire the two houses designed by Gaudi: the Casa Batilo, likened to the back of a dragon and the majestic Pedrera.
4- Shopping by the sea at Maremagnum
Have an original shopping experience at the Maremagnum shopping centre! This newly built centre is built by the sea between the marina and the Port of Barcelona. Located at the bottom of the Ramblas, after the statue of Christopher Columbus, it can be accessed by a wooden footbridge that overlooks the water. You will find on many floors a large number of boutiques such as Lefties, Casas, a shoe shop , Kiko or, once again, Mango.
Above and on the sides, there are many restaurants and cafes. You can find a Starbucks on the terrace which offers an lovely view of the sea.
Maremagnum is ideally located in Barcelona. After your shopping session you can take a little tour of the Barceloneta, the Barcelona beach.
