The Cadiretes Massif, a breath of fresh air on the Costa Brava
The Cadiretes Massif is a breathtaking natural reserve in the province of Girona. The green lung of Catalonia, it is a protected natural resource.
From its highest point at Puig de Cadiretes (519m), you can enjoy a panoramic view that will take your breath away. You will be able to admire vegetation that is fairly uncommon in the Mediterranean as it stands out from the blue of the ocean.
All the originality and attractiveness of this spot lies in the flora that appears to belong more to the Atlantic than the Mediterranean. Located at the crossing point of several valleys, the massif is home to plant and animal species that are not often seen in the Mediterranean.
In this mountainous area, many parts are almost untouched by human hand, thereby creating a refuge for animals. Apart from the extraordinary mountain landscapes, you can also admire the coves and inlets of the Catalan coastline. This natural beauty will take your breath away!

Walking, hiking and biking: how to discover the Massif
On foot, by bicycle, by car: there are many ways to discover the Cadiretes Massif. Whatever you choose, we recommend that you exercise caution. By car, drive slowly to enjoy the view and also to avoid colliding with an animal. If you are on foot or on a bike, you may prefer a guided tour and if you are visiting alone, do not stray from the official paths! Remember to bring plenty of bottled water as the Catalan sun can be very strong!
To discover the Cadiretes Massif by car, take the small winding road from Tossa de Mar to Sant Feliu de Guixols. This way, you will cross the Massif while driving along the coast. The Tourist Office in Tossa de Mar suggests 3 trail bike routes in the Ardenya-Cadiretes Massif: two of the circuits are difficult and the third is very difficult. If you are not a seasoned cyclist, then we recommend that you visit the Tourist Office in Tossa or contact them through tossainfo.eu for information about cycling trails that are suited to your level. Hillwalkers should opt for a guided excursion with a professional.
It is good to know that original outings are regularly organised and leave from Tossa de Mar, for example, there is a workshop to make a wooden walking stick followed by a hike in the Cadiretes.
