All around the town you will find fishmongers, grocery shops, butchers and delicatessens, bakeries and greengrocers offering the finest produce. The choice is huge and it’s easy to buy fresh quality food. You may have noticed that the Spanish still tend to favour their own local shops. Just take a small stroll around the town and you will find exactly what you are looking for.
Prices of fresh produce are generally still lower compared to the UK. Fruit produced in Spain, such as oranges or Andalusian strawberries are particularly affordable, and let’s not forget the famous watermelons which are tasty and cheap in Spain. As to meat, pork and rabbit are good value.
If you want to buy alcohol, we recommend you go to one of the “bodegas”: in other words, off-licenses. Among the bodegas in Lloret de Mar, the Wine Palace is a great place to buy wine or spirits. There are two different markets in Lloret de Mar. One is a weekly market every Tuesday. The second is a permanent covered market, open 6 days a week. The tradition of covered markets is very strong in Spain and you can find them in most towns on the peninsula.
