Lloret de Mar Modernist Cemetery
The modernist cemetery in Lloret de Mar is a real gem of Catalan culture.
Among all the places to visit in the town, you will not want to miss this one!
A unique work of architecture
The modernist cemetery is more than just a must-see visit in Lloret de Mar: it is unique throughout the Costa Brava. When you enter it, you are entering directly into the history of Spain!
Built at the turning point of the 20th century, it is also called the “Indianos cemetery”. The Indianos were inhabitants of Lloret who made their fortune in the Spanish colonies. When they returned to their home town, they built some splendid houses, and above all, magnificent tombs. Today they rest in rich mausoleums in modernist or Baroque style. These genuine works of art are a good example of modernist Catalan funerary art.
A visit that you simply cannot miss during your stay in Lloret de Mar!
Classic or thematic visits throughout the year
In addition to traditional visits, every year the town hall offers visits to the modernist cemetery with a guide and with music. It’s an opportunity to discover the history of Lloret de Mar in an original way.
