Santa Cristina Hermitage
The Santa Cristina Hermitage stands in a magnificent natural setting facing out to sea.
Before you head to the beach or if the sun is too strong, this is a great place to visit in Lloret de Mar.
An unbeatable view over the Mediterranean Sea
Located between Lloret de Mar and Blanes, the Santa Cristina Hermitage enjoys an ideal location.
Back at the start of the 20th century, artists on holiday on the Costa Brava recounted the beauty of this site. Several decades later, the site has become an interesting place to visit in Lloret de Mar. In 2014, it was awarded a Trip Advisor certificate of excellence.
After your visit, why not stop off at Santa Cristina Beach beneath the Hermitage. You will appreciate the fine sand, the shallow water and the heavenly setting of Cala Treumal cove which is just beside it.
Saint Christine, patron saint of Lloret de Mar
The earliest signs of the Hermitage date back to 1376. At the end of the 18th century, a neoclassical-style temple was built with the financial and material assistance of the town’s sailors and boat builders. Its main altar, made from marble, was constructed in Italy. It is worth a visit just for the lovely collection ex-voto of miniature boats offered by pilgrims!
If you happen to be on holiday in Lloret de Mar in July, come to Santa Cristina on the 24th. It is when the town celebrates the Festa Major. Along with the festival atmosphere, you can watch a procession that walks up to the Hermitage from the seafront.
