Estepona Tourism
The resort town, Estepona, is situated near the Sierra Bermaja mountain range, 50 miles west of Malaga on the Costa del Sol. Unlike several other towns on this extended coast, this town however holds a gracious Spanish feeling and is famous for its old narrow town roads and accustomed tapas bars.
Plaza de la Flores is the centre of Estepona, which is adorned with tropical fauna and orange trees. Plenty of artistic townhouses are located around the square with cobblestone roads. There are not many ancient historic sites.
Some of them are the ancient 15th century tower of La Torre del Roj and the historic church of Neustra Sanora de los Remedios built in the 18th century, which is famous regarding the strange iron chunks found embedded in the mortar of the sandstone walls. Sadly, only some of the remains of the immense castle walls are left.
Four museums are located in the Estepona bullring The Bullfighting Museum has displays of old posters and costumes, the local museum contains a pile of old farming and fishing equipment, the Paleontology Museum is one of the largest fossil museums with 2000 fossils, and the Archaeological Museum has great exhibits of prehistoric artifacts.

To the west of the Esplanade, there is a huge marina with 400 small boats anchorage capacity. The marina also has many late nightclubs, which are popular among younger people in the summer.
The fish market is held early at the fish harbor in the western part of the Estepona marina and is almost finished by 7 a.m. Estepona is very famous for the animal safari park of Selwo Aventura situated approximately four miles out of the town, which is home to 2000 animals.
Also, there is a popular 18 hole Estepona golf club covered with olive trees, palm trees and eucalyptus. This wonderful golf club is situated in the lower foothills of the Sierra Bermeja renowned for its super quality freeways and greens and a nice practice facility with a big driving range and putting green.
The closest international airport is in Gibraltar, but most visitors use Malaga airport. Also, reliable bus services are available on the coastline to Marbella and La Linea from the core bus terminal. Please visit Estepona for more tourist info about the city.
