Avila is the capital city of the province with the same name; it is famous for being the Spanish provincial capital situated at the highest altitude. Avila is still protected by medieval walls that will impress you with their 9 gateways and 88 towers.
The walls are hundreds of years old as they were built right after the Christians re-conquered the province from the Moors. Burgos is worth visiting for the outstanding Gothic Cathedral. The construction started in 1221 and it took 300 years and the greatest names of the time in architecture to finish it.
Leon is the type of cosmopolitan city that charms you with its relaxed atmosphere, a city where the old and the new perfectly combine in a balance that attracts tourists. Its Gothic Cathedral dating back to the 13th century is one of the major attractions of Leon.
Salamanca, Segovia, Valladolid and Zamora
Who hasn’t heard about the University in Salamanca? It is the oldest that Spain has and among the oldest in Europe as Salamanca is an ancient city. If you want to taste the flavors of Salamanca, visit it on foot and enjoy its terraces, its restaurants, the hundreds of students that wander around and the amazing squares.
Segovia attracts tourists with the Roman Aqueduct, one of the last marks of this amazing civilization and also with its beautiful Alcazar. Valladolid is the capital of the province and one of its most impressive historical cities while Zamora is the type of relaxed city that you have to visit because it has outstanding monuments such as the Cathedral.
