Lanzarote
The island of Lanzarote offers a great number of activities and places to visit to its visitors. It is placed on the east side of the Canary Islands; it has a width of around 13 miles and a length of 40 miles. It features a wonderful warm climate; this is one of its main appeals. Thanks to its warm temperature and lack of rain, the island of Lanzarote is the absolute ideal place for the tourist who is looking for a quality time on the beach or just about any outdoor activities he can think of. It offers lots of services and activities.
One of the most visited places by tourists on the island is the Limantaya National Park. This is also usually the first place where the tourists go. It is an amazing place, placed over a lava field of about 20 square miles, believe it or not. This lava field was put to use in around 1730. At that time a few volcanoes erupted in the area, leaving behind this huge “sea” of lava.
Another frequently visited tourist location on the island is The House of Cesar Manrique. It offers an interesting architectural style that has a very rich history behind it. It is basically interesting from every point of view. If you go to the central zone in Lanzarote near the House of Cesar Manrique, you will find the city of the island called Arrecife. This is the place to look for hotels, restaurants, shops and just about any other facility you need or want.
Going to the northern part of the island, you will find several more interesting places to visit. One such place is the Jameos del Agua. The Jameos del Agua was constructed after the volcanic eruption in 1730 and it features lots and lots of information about the volcanic activity of the area. In Jameos del Agua’s vicinity you will find the Mirador del Rio. This is a place where tourists can witness some of the most amazing sights and landscapes, thanks to it being built in a very strategic area.
After visiting the previously described locations, a tourist can also go to La Cueva de los Verdes, as it is called in Spanish. This place is located in around the same spot as Mirador del Rio and it means The Cave of the Greens. You can walk in the cave and be amazed at the wonderful and interesting lava formations that are found inside.
