Madrid
Madrid is the capital of Spain with the biggest number of sunny days a year. It is also one of the most dynamic and most beautiful capitals of Europe. In addition, Madrid best describes the Spanish tradition, art and temperament.
It represents the history of success combined with the modern lifestyle and has the reputation of the city that never sleeps. In this cosmopolitan city you will meet people from all over the world.
In contact with nature
It is impossible to speak of Madrid and not to mention some of its sights such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Prado Museum. Royal Palace – Palacio Real, the official residence of the Spanish monarchy, was built during the reign of the first Spanish king in the 18th century.
Today it is used as a museum, although some rooms are used for the state protocol. Its luxurious rooms and halls take the visitor’s breath away. Above all, a beautiful view from the king’s garden completes the experience of Madrid.
Place to visit
According to many visitors the most beautiful square in Madrid is Plaza Mayor. It is placed in the heart of the old part of the town. Through the history, there were many trials and executions that were carried out here by the Inquisition. However, it was used for bullfighting and theatrical performances as well. It is usually described as an elegant and a very cozy Square. Thus, it is not uncommon to see people sitting on the ground and enjoying the atmosphere.
Museums and art galleries surround a beautiful promenade which was built by Carlos III. He wanted it to become a cultural and artistic center of the city. Walking through this part of Madrid will feed all your senses whether it is day or night.
Art lovers never miss visiting one of the largest museums, the Museo Del Prado. It holds the largest collection of Spanish art from the 12th to 19th centuries and one of the largest collections of European art.
Although this is an elegant metropolis with magnificent buildings, Madrid is in close contact with nature and it also provides the feeling that you have just arrived in a large park.
Flamenco, opera, dinner
The biggest attraction of Madrid is reserved for the strongest people. However, it is one of the bloodiest forms of art – bullfights, or in Spanish, corrida de torros. For Spanish people a bullfight is not a sport, it is an artistic spectacle. The best bulls for fighting can be found in Las Ventas arena in Madrid.
On the other hand, nightlife in Madrid is very rich. People go out late, after 10 p.m. Hence this is one of the reasons for traffic jams late into the night. You can find flamenco shows, concerts, operas, musicals and variety of dance performances in the clubs or you can go to the tapas bars to try their great ethnic cuisine.
