Making Complaint in Spain
There is no doubt that Spain is one of the most desirable vacation destinations. Relaxed environment and easy-going atmosphere makes Spain in either place for getting engaged in a number of activities but the experience can turn infuriating if things go wrong or you feel that you have been brought to injustice.
Something like getting pick-pocketed or getting scammed can destroy your vacations and turned it into a bitter experience. In other to seek redress, it is important that you know where and how to complain and make yourself heard.
If you have a complaint regarding some specific establishment, you can ask for ‘libro de reclamaciones’ which is Spanish translation of complaints book. Every establishment in Spain has its own complaint book but just filing one does not guarantee that you will be heard. You may first try threatening to make a complain but if nothing still seems to work out, make a written complaint.
If you feel that you complain will not be heard you can lodge a formal legal complaint also. You can call a lawyer and first ask him to settle on your behalf.
It is always better is the court action is not required. Sometimes only a single word from lawyer can end up the problems and if you ask your lawyer to demand a response within a fixed date of time then the complaint can work wonders. You can also go for consumer arbitration system which has an advantage of escaping full court hearings. It is important to furnish documents in case you want a legal action on your complaint.
You can also get into the process of denouncing the offender. The ‘Denuncia’ has quiet a specific place in the legal system of Spain and it is important that denucia should be treated seriously. A denuncia is fundamentally a crime report that is usually made to the police and once it is made, the request is sent to the authorities that investigate the issue and prosecute the offender depending on the report. Make sure that there is no frivolous reason behind a Denucia.
Making a complaint regarding Bank or its products and services; it is possible to lodge a complaint directly with Spanish central bank. Complaint forms are available in Spanish and English language but both can be completed in English. Another important consideration would be while selecting the lawyer, make sure that he does not charge more than 50 – 100 euros.
