Murcia Murcia, capital of the Autonomous Region in south-eastern Spain, is located on the banks of the River Segura. Of ancient foundation in the course of its history the city (300,000 inhabitants) has undergone numerous achievements; including the Arab conquest which has left its mark. Murcia enjoys a climate among the best in Spain, thanks to high temperatures and low rainfall throughout the year, so you can visit it in any season.

The city is now an important agricultural center, thanks to the fertile Huerta, the surrounding area that forms along the path of the Segura, is one of the main places of production of fruits and vegetables in Spain. Murcia is also the main cultural center (the site of an ancient university,) religious, industrial and administrative center of the region The Old Town: it develops along the left bank of the Segura and is accessed through the Puente Viejo, from which we come to the Paseo de la Glorieta de Espana, which houses the Ayuto (Town Hall) and the Palacio Episcopal.

Not far away is the main monument of the city, the Cathedral de Santa Maria with the next tower. Depart from the square in the main streets of town, always very animate.La University area: located north of the Cathedral and, in addition to the prestigious institution, you can visit the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo. Further south you reach the Paseo del Malecon, near which are Homonym’s Gardens, another popular spot. From the terrace you can enjoy a nice view of Murcia. Alter destinations to Murcia on the right bank of the Segura and you can visit the Jardin de Floridablanca with the Church of Carmen. Other destinations in the region of Murcia: heading towards the sea, we find the ancient city of Cartagena, the main port and second city of the Spanish military region after the capital of Murcia.

In this city, worth visiting, is the historical center that was developed near the old Plaza Mayor.

Cathedral of Santa Maria: the church, in Spanish Gothic style, was built between 1394 and 1467, but work continued in later centuries with additions and changes, among which the monumental and magnificent retablo-facade, considered one of the best examples of Baroque Andalusia Spanish architect ,Jaime Bort, rich with decorations and sculptures.
