Cordoba offers an impressive Moorish Mequita or mosque as its main attraction. This magnificent architecture was built up during the Moorish occupation. However, there is also a Jewish quarter that resides in Cordoba that is full of history and culture.
Santiago de Compostela boasts of its St. James cathedral as the oldest and most beautiful all over Spain. Its lush greenery is amazing and worth seeing.
Last but not least, Salamanca is just a 2.5 hour ride from Madrid. This university town is very beautiful with uniform sandstone architecture that gives a good feeling to all who visit.
