Pamplona
Overview
The city, Pamplona is the capital of the autonomous region Navarra and is in the Pamplona valley center. This has a number of crossroads and entry points for going to Europe and is one of the largest green cities in Europe.

History
This place was a camp for Pompey, the Roman General in 75 to 74 BC during the war with Sertorius. Pompey founded the city of Pompaelo and this later on became Pamplona. It has been found during the archeological excavations carried out recently that this city has undergone major developments in those years.
Climate
Pamplona’s weather is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea and the Cantabrian Mountains. The climate in this city is a transition between the Atlantic and Mediterranean climates. The maximum temperature in July and August is 35ºC whereas the minimum temperature is 15º C in January.
Art and Culture
There are many monuments and churches built in the 16th to 18th centuries.
Gothic Cathedral – was built in the 14th century and has a rectangular open space and a neoclassical façade.
Saint Nicholas and Saint Sernin Churches – were Gothic churches built in the 13th century.
Saint Dominic and Saint Augustine churches – were built in the 16th century
Saint Lawrence Church – in 17th and 18th century Saint Fermin Baroque chapels were built in this church
New diocesan seminary – has remarkable architecture and was built in the year 1931
Memorial church – was built in 1942 in memory of the people who died during the civil war
Sports and Entertainment
Popular sports in this city are – football, bull fighting, handball and Basque Pelota.
1.Taconera park – has been in existence since 17th century. It is a romantic park that has sculptures, parterre and pathways for pedestrians.
2.Media Luna Park – was developed during the 2nd expansion and is suited for relaxing, sightseeing and strolling.
3.Other popular parks are – the Yamaguchi park that has a little Japanese garden, Arga park and park at the Navarre university.
