Places of Interest in Spain – Castile/La Mancha
La Mancha or Castile is an autonomous community of five cities. The cities coming under La Mancha are Toledo, Cuenca, Cludad Real, Guadalajara and Albacete. Each of these communities is popular amongst tourists because it is already in the list of frequently visited places in Spain. Now let us visit each of these cities.
Toledo for example is popular for its ancient buildings. Most of these buildings belong to the Moorish era. There are some buildings belonging to Mudejar and Jewish eras also. There are plenty of buildings belonging to the Gothic era.
Some of the renowned painters were born in Toledo. The museum in Toledo has paintings of some renowned painters like El Grecos, Goya, etc. Santo Tome Church is another place which is frequently visited by tourists. The mosque built in the 10th century and the synagogues receive the highest number of visitors. Currently, the mosque is under renovation.
The next city in the autonomous community is Cuenca. Cuenca is called a ‘phantasmagorical beauty’. Tourists say that Cuenca is one of the most beautiful places in Spain. Tall mountains, vast vegetation, beautiful environment are some of the most attractive aspects of this city.
The cathedral built during Moorish era is one of the places which receive regular visitors every day. Another prestigious place of visit is the Museum of Abstract Art. This is another place which is never missed by any visitor.
We move on to the next important city, namely Cludad Real. Although this is relatively not so popular, it has many places of interest for the tourists. The windmill in Campo de Criptana is something amazing. Almagro is another important place in Cludada Real where international theatre festival is held.
When we reach the city of Albacete, we visit the famous knife making industry. The knives manufactured here are popular throughout the world. The next place of visit is the Cathedral built during the 16th century. The marvelous structure of the cathedral is beyond explanation.
The last in the autonomous community is Guadalajara. Some of the places of visit in this city are the Moorish wall built in the 10th century and the bridge built on the river Henares also built in the 11th century. The city has numerous churches. Some of the renowned churches are Mudejar and the Santa Maria Church. The duque Del palace built in the 15th century is so beautiful that the visitor will be engrossed in it.
