Places of Interest in Spain – Costa de la Luz
When you visit Spain, make it a point to visit Costa de la Luz and be sure that you will be amazed by its stunning beauty. In English language, Costa de la Luz means ‘coast of light’. The coast is now becoming more and more popular amongst foreign tourists, particularly tourists from France and Germany. The coast is in the Huelvia province and is very near to the famous town of Andalusia. Now, many refineries and other major industries have come up near this coast.
Brief history:
According to historical records, this was the coast from where trade in gold and silver with America was held. The history of this coast dates back to the period earlier to the 12th century. Historians have said that the coast was used for trading by Romans also.
Places of interest:
One of the most beautiful beaches of Andalusia, Costa de la Luz is considered as one of the very well protected natural reserves. Plenty of water sports facilities are available. Safety and cleanliness have received primary importance. Some of the endangered species of birds like Spanish Imperial Eagle, Lberian Lynx and Adalbert’s Eagle can also be sighted from this beach.
The other places of importance are the cathedrals. There are two cathedrals which are classified as old and new, depending on when they were constructed. Visitors are allowed to go up to the roof of the cathedral from where they can have a wonderful view of the place around.
About 30 kms from the beach is another cathedral called Renaissance cathedral. This is one of the most splendid structures of Andalusia. The Alcazar of Moors and the Baths are some of the other important places of attraction.
When to visit:
Normally July and August is the ideal time to visit this coast. Of course, during this time the place is filled with tourists. So it is advisable that the tourists reserve the accommodation well in advance. Once in Costa de la Luz, there are many tourist information centers and tourist guides who would help to finalize the itinerary.
How to reach?
The place is very well connected by road and train. Ferry services are also available. It is very well connected by air.
Accommodation and food:
There are plenty of villas and apartments. But to avoid disappointment particularly during the summer, it is advisable that accommodation is booked in advance. The rentals are quite reasonable. There are many hotels, cafeterias and bars which charge moderate rates.
