Places of interest in Spain – Navarre
When you visit Navarre, undoubtedly you will be thrilled by its natural beauty. The great mountain bordering this place has enhanced the beauty of Navarre. As a matter of fact, Navarre is a very strategic place for the Spanish Army. The Spanish Army has many bases in this mountain range.
Pamplona is the capital of Navarre. The history of Pamplona and Navarre is traced to the period of Moors and Romans. In fact, considering the strategic location of this town, even the rulers of the earlier civilizations gave enough importance to this town. Blessed with the great mountain, the towns of Navarre and Pamplona have attracted tourists because they are ideal places for a quiet and peaceful holiday.
Our first place of visit is the city of Pamplona. The city is located at the foot of the great mountain Pyrenees. It is one of the most popular places for natural beauty. The river Arga has made Pamplona rich in vegetation. If you are planning to visit Navarre, you would do well to visit on July 7 so that you can also participate in the most famous San Fermin festival.
This is one of the most spectacular events of Pamplona which attract very large crowds. The festival is held as a reverence to Saint Fermin who lost his life while preaching religion in Amiens, France.
The village Las Bardenas Reales:
When you visit Pamplona, never forget to visit the little village Las Bardenas Reales. The place is simply beautiful with eye catching landscape and lush vegetation; all this in the backdrop of the great mountain. Be certain you will fall in love with this village. It is the most ideal place to holiday.
Olite palace:
This palace is believed to have been built centuries ago. It is located in the town of Zona Media and in the village Pamplona. This beautiful palace is open to public for visit. Just near the palace is the Romanesque church which is believed to have been built during the Roman period. To the east of the palace, you will find vast area of land under grape cultivation; needless to say that it is the epicenter of the most popular wine of Spain.
To the west of the palace you will find vast area of land under wheat cultivation.
There are plenty of villas and hotels and most popular restaurants where the tourist can enjoy his holiday in a luxurious environment.
