The Beautiful La Rioja
La Rioja in northern Spain is a land of vineyards and wine, art and culture and also, of course, nature. You will be surprised by the diversity of its landscapes. You will find Mediterranean forests and the Sierras Mountain which within a few kilometers, opens onto dry land almost lunar in appearance. Water will accompany you for most of your trips as this region gave birth to seven rivers.
Opportunities to explore natural areas of La Rioja are not lacking. Here are a few. From quiet walks on trails fully furnished down to adventure sports, activities for the youth, bicycle tours on Greenways … the possibilities are numerous but all start from the same idea: make the most of nature in La Rioja.
For the more adventurous:
If you like excitement, La Rioja is your ideal destination. You can climb rock walls 200 meters high in the defiles of valleys Najerilla, Iregua, Leza and Cidacos or climb more than 120 peaks including the Sierra de la Demanda , which culminates in the region with the 2 260 meters peak of San Lorenzo. If you wish, you can also experience the thrill of exploring in some 36 caves and chasms, you can get into paragliding and hang gliding above the valleys of San Millán, Leza and in the vicinity of Ezcaray and also go mountain biking on endless roads and forest tracks – some such as those that cross the valley Oja are very impressive – or spend time canoeing the rapids of the Iregua and Najerilla or canyon in the ravines of San Martín Peña Muro on the course of Jubera. In La Rioja the marked trails, easy access and simple paths are many – roads that cross the mountains Obarenes dominated by vineyards or spread among the pines, frozen lakes and waterfalls in the peaks Urbión. Come discover the natural park of Sierra de Cebollera just 50 miles from Logroño and stroll its network of trails. The interpretive center provides detailed information on activities that can be achieved in the park throughout the year. You can discover the caves of La Paz and La Viña, perfectly equipped to receive visitors of all ages.

You should carry shoes and clothes for the mountain, water bottle, hat, backpack and certainly the desire to be in touch with nature.
