The Beautiful Seville

Seville is one of the many beautiful Spanish cities that receive millions of visitors every year; it is a city that enjoys a very warm and pleasant sun, as it occupies the southeast part of the country, being the capital of the province. One of the main reasons why it attracts so many tourists is its location: along the Guadalquivir River, or to be more exact, on one of its plains.

This location offers Seville some of the most beautiful views in the country and when a tourist visits a foreign country, one of the things that he or she expects to see is a breathtaking landscape like no other seen before.

A short history of the city

The past of Seville is a very disturbed one and many of the events that took place between the walls of the city were determined by its functioning as a port since the very first years of its life. Seville’s port connected the commerce between Spain and the two Americas and it is still one of the most important, as well as active ports in the country.

The history of Seville starts with the Tartessians, who founded Hispalis, next to which the Romans decided to build Italica in 207 BC. The Romans, the Northern Barbarians and the Moors ruled over the city and left their fingerprints on its every single building and its every single street.

Attractions in Seville

Seville is one of those cities where sightseeing is a must, because there are too many beautiful places to visit and too many beautiful buildings to see. For example, a tourist should start the tour with the imposing La Giralda Tower, the symbol of Seville.

The 17th century is probably the most important one for Seville; this is the century when some of the greatest painters and sculptors were born, leaving behind many of their works (Diego Velasquez and Martinez Montanes are two of the most important names of the age). In 1929 the city hosted the Latin American Exhibition, so the city benefited from some wonderful improvements.

A similar thing happened in 1992, when Seville hosted Expo 92, an event which put the city on the list of dynamic and very modern places in the world. Since you are in Seville, make a stop at one of the bars and taste the delicious tapas; I am sure that you will want to do it again!
