The Spectacular Ciutadella Park In Barcelona

A spectacular country

When summer comes, everybody wants to go on a holiday. People want to relax after a long, fast-paced year full of problems, stress and a hectic lifestyle. Most of those who decide to go on a holiday want to choose a destination that can offer them everything they want: sun, warm temperatures, clear waters and a wide range of entertainment possibilities.

The perfect recommendation if you are looking for all this is Spain. Spain is a very diverse country where you can find anything you want, from breathtaking landscapes to modern cities and traditional villages.

This is the reason why Spain is one of the most popular and most visited countries in the world. Among its attractions, Barcelona is a city worth mentioning, as it is truly one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.

Barcelona is not the capital of the country, but it sometimes receives more visitors than Madrid. The explanation is that Barcelona hosts the outstanding architectural works of the great Antoni Gaudi, as well as a series of spectacular parks like nothing else in the world.

Ciutadella Park

Ciutadella Park is a lovely area of Barcelona, occupying the zone once known as La Ribera. Ciutadella Park was built in the 18th century on the orders of Felipe V, who conquered Barcelona and forced the inhabitants of the area known as La Ribera to move to Barceloneta.

This is how the beautiful park came into being. The park is now one of the most popular areas in Barcelona and people go there to rest and relax while enjoying the wonderful views. The park is situated close to the Olympic Village and the beautiful Barceloneta beach.

You have the opportunity to cycle, go on a boat ride or simply relax. Once you pass the gates of the park, an imposing building will appear before your eyes.

It is the Zoology Museum and right next to it is the Hivernacle greenhouse, the place where you can enjoy the beauty of different tropical plants. Once you are in Ciutadella Park, you cannot afford to miss the fantastic Cascada Fountains, a complex of beautiful fountains designed by Josep Fontsère with the help of a young apprentice named Antoni Gaudi.

A large part of the park is home to the Barcelona Zoo, one of the places that you should visit, especially if you have children. Come to Barcelona and enjoy!
