Visiting The Attractive Arona
The city that knows how to attract visitors
Arona is definitely not one of the most famous cities in Spain, but in the past few years it started to become more and more attractive for those who find out about its existence. The centre of the town is a tiny one, but at the same time extremely charming with its pretty streets that are absolutely perfect for a short stroll.
The San Antonio Abad Church represents one of the main attractions of the town’s centre, a monument dating back to the 17th century and built in a beautiful Canarian style.
However, it is not the sightseeing that most attracts the attention of tourists but the fact that Arona is actually the base for a very beautiful and interesting 4 hr hike to the famous Rogue del Conde, one of the spots in Spain that offers splendid views. This particular viewpoint will take your breath away with stunning views over the famous and popular Tenerife and over the picturesque La Gomera.
Going on a hike
Even though the hike is a 4 hr one, thousands of tourists choose it for their holiday every year. If you want to follow the route up to Conde, you have to prepare for a steep and loose path that goes along an old path-road; this path-road was originally built to allow the plateau to be cultivated.
Those who want to find the trailhead have to leave the town’s square from the front of the church and prepare to cross the main road. When you see the statue of Jesus Christ, turn left and as you reach the C/Vento 30, make sure you turn right.
This is the place where you will find the first painted trail markers that will show you the way up. You will have to cross a gorge and then you’ll notice that the path gets more and more steep; this is the sign that you are getting closer to your destination.

A more famous and popular town situated in the proximity of Arona is Los Cristianos, the place from where tourists can get the 480 bus if they want to reach Arona.
