The surroundings of your villa
Balearic Islands:
The Balearic Islands (Spanish: Islas Baleares or simply, Catalan: Illes Balears or simply les Illes) are an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, east of the Spanish mainland. It consists of six islands, the largest of Mallorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The other smaller islands are Cabrera, with the National Park Archipelago de Cabrera, and Dragonera. Ibiza and Formenera, the western part of the Balearics, are called together the Pityusen or Pine Islands. On the Balearic Islands the permanent residents speak Spanish and Catalan. The Catalan is different variety than those of for example Barcelona and is under linguists known as Balearic. Balearic is divided into several specific dialects and the inhabitants of the islands will therefor use the local name, such as "Mallorqui" on Mallorca, "Eivissenc" on Ibiza and "Menorqui" on Menorca.
Ibiza and Mallorca are very popular tourist destinations for young people. Every year, DJ's with big reputations go to Ibiza for the summer to commit to a nightclub. However, Ibiza and Mallorca are also suitable for families with small children because there are many quiet villages where it is nice to stay. Here are no pounding music and screaming youth, instead there are people who enjoy the peace, nature and the delicious Spanish food.
Beaches and climate:
The center of the range of resorts of Mallorca is the beach Playa de Mallorca, which adjoins the city Palma de Mallorca. Palma Nova and Santa Ponsa are situated west of the capital. El Arenal, Playa de Palma and Ca'n Pastilla are at the east side. In the north is Alcudia, also a popular holiday destination especially for parents with children. On the large beaches you find good facilites, including restaurants, showers and many water sports. During the summer season lifeguards are present at most beaches. The smaller beaches usually do not have control and are therefore less suitable for families with small children. Most of the beaches have swimming areas marked with buoys. This does not mean that swimming outside the demarcated areas is prohibited. Often at the entrance to the beach there is a sign with all facilities listed. So you can easily find out if th beach is suitable for example for disabled and whether there are showers.
The island is not only frequently visited during the summer, also during winter it is adored by people who like to hibernate. Mallorca has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers with plenty of sunshine and mild winters where the temperature remains almost always above zero. Rainfall is moderate but regular. The mountain areas in Mallorca are considerably cooler, wetter and grayer than the rest of the island. Snowfall is not unthinkable on the highest parts of the Serra de Tramuntana in the northwest.
Ibiza has beaches in abundance, with a 18km long coastline with dozens of bays, beaches and small beaches. Many of these beaches have beautiful white sand and palm trees, but there are also small or large stones, or simply rocks. Ibiza has just over 50 beaches. Ibiza has also gravel beaches, which are ideal for snorkeling. Ibiza's pearl white sandy beaches are ideal for sleeping it off. The crystal clear water and warm temperatures are great for practicing a variety of water sports, swimming and diving to wakeboarding and surfing. The city beaches are annually provided with clean, new sand found in: Ibiza Town, San Jose, San Antonio, San Juan and Santa Eulalia. The fashionable beaches of Ibiza Town are frequented visited by the international jet set and other VIPs, and here people come specially to see and to be seen.
The mediterranean climate let Ibiza be featured with soft winters and warm summers. The rainfall is moderate through the whole year and in summer it almost drops to zero, which makes it relatively dry on the island. A heavy thunderstorm in summer is not unimaginable. Furthermore the summer months are characterized by many sun hours. Not for nothing Ibiza is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean Sea and is a holiday on Ibiza popular among sun worshippers.

Ibiza is world famous for its fantastic clubs, beach bars, cafes and bubbling nightlife, with famous names such as Pacha, Es Paradis and Space. But the island offers definitely more! Wihtin the ancient walls of Ibiza town there is the Gothic cathedral, which was once a mosque. The turns between the 14th and 18th centuries tell a stoty in itself. Another attraction is the Sa Sal Rosa Tower in Playa d'en Bossa. Built to protect the harbor and offers a magnificent view of the neighboring island Formentera. Here you reach after a walk along the white stone walls eventually the 18th century light house Es Cap de Barbaria. Other activities Ibiza offers are for example bungee jumping, dinner shows and karting.
On Mallorca and Ibiza there are restaurants for all tastes and budgets. You will find restaurants with excellent priced menus and a range of international restaurants, including Mexican, Italian and Dutch/Belgian.
